$54 million Best Buy lawsuit
I thought this was awesomely ridiculous. Apparently some woman is suing Best Buy for $54 million because they lost her laptop. I guess hell hath no fury like a woman scorned…or at least one who’s had her laptop jacked.

I must say, the past week or so of using WordPress as my blogging app has been fabulous. I love how easy it is to manage and update. It’s so easy to install too. They even have a “Famous 5 Minute Installation“. I don’t think that first time newbies (including myself) would actually be able to do it in 5 minutes, but after a few installations, there’s no reason why it couldn’t happen.
In fact, I’ve gone a little WordPress crazy in the last week. I actually went ahead and updated Jeremy’s site with his own installation of WordPress (which he has yet to update). And I did another installation for the CCF Alumni Website as well. That one isn’t up yet because there isn’t enough content yet. But it will be eventually.
If you don’t use WordPress for your blog, maybe you should. It bills itself as “a state-of-the-art semantic personal publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability.” Go download it!
Charlene and I just got back from Davis. It was great to see her old stompin’ grounds. We spent the night at her best friend Ruth’s house. Saturday morning we went to Farmer’s Market, which is where we got the world famous kettle corn. Then we went to Burgers and Brew for lunch. It was a nice little lunch spot. The chili burger was OK. I’m still on the lookout for a chili burger better than the ones at John’s Burgers in Bakersfield. Those are the best! Charlene got the Tofu Burger, and she didn’t really like it. (I never liked the idea of a tofu burger to begin with.)
After lunch, we chilled at Ruth’s place for a while before heading out to visit UC Davis. They have a very flat campus, I must say. Of course, I can only really compare it to Cal Poly which is practically built on a hillside. But the flatness definitely explains why there are so many bikes around that campus. I suppose it helps that the city of Davis as a whole is a bike friendly place. There were bike racks everywhere throughout the city. Pretty cool if you ask me.
For dinner we headed over to one of Charlene’s perennial favorites, Dos Coyotes. I got the shrimp burrito, and Charlene got some grilled chicken salad. My burrito was delicious. Mmm…I don’t think Wahoo’s burritos are that good.
Anyways, it’s great to be back home, but I must say I’m not really ready for work tomorrow. Sigh…
Today is the beginning of the Chinese lunar year. Incidentally, it is also the year of the Rat. Better start looking for my li see.
Just a shout out to my Aye Yee in Tucson. Hope you have a great time celebrating. Quite fortuitously, today is also Chinese New Years.
If you’re an American citizen, and they’re holding elections where you live, don’t forget to vote today.

Not only is this is a privilege; this is a responsibility.
So go take advantage of your privilege, and fulfill your responsibility.
I’d have to agree with B&H that this is indeed the Mother of All Lenses:

1200mm is nothing to sneeze at. It weighs in at an astounding 36lbs, 33″ long, 9″ wide at the front element, and a whopping $99,000.
Pretty incredible if you ask me. Can you imagine what it could do with a 2.0x extender? Wow!
For those of you who are wondering, you can find my archived blog entries here. That page pretty much covers everything from June 1, 2006 – December 31, 2007. There are links off the archive pages to more archived pages. But I’ll include them here to make it easy for you:
Wow! That’s like three and a half years of history in my life. Incredible. Maybe one day I’ll go back and import everything into WordPress. On the other hand, that would probably be a real pain, and it’s more likely those pages will forever be entombed in PHP files.
So it’s been over a month since I last posted, but hopefully that was time well spent. As you can see, I’ve upgraded my site to use WordPress to manage my blog. Hopefully, this will allow a new level of interaction and integration. It should also allow me easier access to make postings on the site as I will be able to do them via an administration console instead of having to open up an HTML file and manually edit it.
Have a look around, and enjoy!
