Pastor Tim over at Grace Church in SLO had an interesting commentary on Eliot Spitzer’s fall on Wednesday. I thought it was very interesting, and certainly thought provoking. One of his more poignant statements was
We are all capable of something like this. None of us is beyond this.
That kinda cuts to the heart, doesn’t it? We’re all capable of being like him. And in fact we are. Romans 3:10 reminds us that there is no one who is righteous. We’re all sinners. A few verses later, Paul reminds us of this fact in Romans 3:23.
Had he refused to resign, I think he should have been impeached. So while I agree that it was right for Spitzer to step down, there’s no room for judgement on my part. I’m no better than he, and I’m certainly capable of what he did.
Aren’t we all?
So I know I’m over a week late, but work’s been really crazy the last 2 weeks or so. But Apple released their iPhone SDK on March 6 in case you were hiding in a cave like me. You can watch Steve Jobs, Phil Schiller, and Scott Forstall all give their presentation on the iPhone update here.
I thought it was ingenious that they decided to release the SDK early to a few companies like EA, Salesforce.com, AOL, epocrates, and Sega. The companies all had 2 weeks to build an app for the iPhone using the SDK. And I’ve gotta say they came up with some pretty nifty apps. I think the coolest prospect is the gaming on the iPhone. As one of the presenters said, “These aren’t cell phone games.”
The fact that Apple hosts the app and makes it available to all iPhone users is pretty awesome. 30% of the revenue doesn’t seem that bad of a take either. It almost makes me want to become an Apple developer. Now, if I only had a software idea that could make me some money.
Governor Eliot Spitzer has officially resigned today. He was the governor of New York, and it’s famous (or infamous) attorney general for a number of years. He went after corporate corruption, and his most memorable case (at least in my mind) was against Dick Grasso, the former chairman and CEO of the New York Stock Exchange. But it seems Spitzer himself wasn’t above corruption.
It was a shame to find out about his involvement in prostitution. What a sad thing for his family, especially his wife and three daughters. What a traumatizing event that must have been. I don’t know how people recover from shocking events like that. I’m doubtful that Spitzer will recover from this one.
Here they are in reverse chronological order:
That’s all for now.
Now that is a printer. I don’t really know what I’d do with a printer longer than my house, but I’m sure that someone somewhere has need of it. On Tuesday, Canon announced their new imagePRESS C6000VP and C6000 digital presses. They print 60 pages per minute and cost up to $155,000. WOW!
Yesterday we kept things pretty low key. I cooked dinner for Charlene, she asked for Black Bean Chicken and Broccoli, and then we went to Gelayo Gusto for dessert. It was very tasty, and relaxing. In the words of Mom, “Rest…” When we were at dessert, we worked on our homework for our Pre-Engagement Class. Good times.
The big stuff is happening later this month. Charlene is taking me to Kooza, the Cirque du Soleil show here in San Jose. She went all out and bought VIP tickets. I’m blessed…
The following weekend, I’m taking her up to Sausalito for a Segway Tour. I’ve never ridden on one, but they look like a lot of fun. Can’t wait!
Today marks my one year anniversary with Charlene. I can’t believe it. Time flies. Here’s to another year…
Happy birthday, Dad. Thanks for making the gift giving so easy. We’ll just have to find a time to schedule that hike of yours up Bishops.
