Teaser Photos

March 15th, 2009

Our wedding photographer, Lynn-Kai Chao e-mailed us a few teaser photos while we were on our honeymoon.

These are definitely good pics, and certainly a teaser of what’s to come.  I can’t wait to see the rest of them.

In case you’re wondering these pictures were all taken before the ceremony.  The first two were at Stanford, and the last one was taken near the pool at my cabana.

The Best Job in the World

January 13th, 2009

Australia has just listed a job posting for the “Best Job in The World.“  And I’m inclined to agree with them.  The job description is as follows, and is almost nauseatingly idyllic:

The “island caretaker” will be expected to stroll the white sands, soak up the sun, snorkel the reef, “maybe clean the pool” — and report to a global audience via weekly blogs, photo diaries and video updates.

It pays AU$150,000 which is roughly equivalent to US$105,000.  Heck, I’d love to do that! Unfortunately, the job is only a 6 month stint, and the website where one applies seems to be flooded with traffic.

Maybe my cousin Kevin should apply for this job. Hmm…

Engagement Pictures are In!

December 9th, 2008

Lynn mailed our engagement pictures earlier this week, and we just got them in the mail today. He sent two custom-made DVDs with over 1100 photos on them.  That’s right!  1100 Photos!

Charlene and I spent about an hour tonight looking at all of them. There are definitely a lot of keepers and some quite memorable ones with weird expressions. haha.

Because of the aforementioned restrictions, I won’t be posting all of them on Wongside. I may post a few, but most likely, I’ll put them up on Picasa as a hidden album. If you’d like access, you can e-mail me.

Engagement Photos Posted

November 29th, 2008

Charlene and I spent two Sunday afternoons this month with our wedding photographer Lynn-Kai Chao. The first Sunday, we went to the park where I proposed, and two secret locations that I’m not at liberty to discuss :-) No…no…it was nothing scandalous. It’s just that we’re not allowed to discuss it in public pursuant to our agreement to honor a few corporate policies. (If you’re curious, I’d be more than happy to share privately.) The second Sunday we went to Carmel, CA to take beach photos.

But anyways, Lynn finished editing our photos this week and posted them on his photo blog. He did an amazing job! We’re so thrilled to have him as our wedding/engagement photographer. If you’re looking for one, we totally recommend him. We’re really excited about having him shoot our wedding in a couple months. And based on his work so far, it’s going to be amazing!

Pictures Soon

October 17th, 2008

I just finished resizing and uploading a whole ton of pictures going back to July. Now I just have to write a little blurb about each one, and I can officially post them. Patience grasshopper, patience.

Family Photos

October 14th, 2008

I’ve had a number of people (family members) ask about pictures from the reunion a couple weeks ago. I haven’t had time to process all of them (you might remember that I shot them all in RAW). And because I’ve been so busy with work, it might be a while. But here’s a preview of the two group shots we took. Admittedly, it’s not my best work. The conditions were kind of harsh, and it started to rain as we were assembling.

I was scrambling to set up my camera, focus it, make sure everyone was in the picture, set the timer, run to grab a spot, and wait for the flash. People had to leave, and it was starting to rain, so we couldn’t really delay taking the pictures. I only got two shots off before it really began to rain, and this was the result.

They could have been a lot better. But this will have to do as it’s all I’ve got. If I had to do it over, I would have waited until it wasn’t raining to get a better shot. And I would have made sure that people filled in the edges more.  We’ve got this really tightly bunched pyramid thing going on, and clearly some people were obscured. It’s also obvious that some people didn’t have the concentration to stare at the camera for 10 seconds. Next time, it would be ideal to have a remote or something to trigger it when I wanted it triggered.

I guess the one thing I can say for my family is that it’s quite diverse. Lots of people from lots of different cultures and backgrounds.

Hanging with Dan

September 26th, 2008

Dan and I are going up to SF tomorrow to take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset.  I’m really excited.  People who know me know that I’m not a huge fan of The City, but I guess for the opportunity to shoot the Golden Gate, I’ll do it.

Adorama 100 Tips in 100 Days Part 1

September 24th, 2008

I didn’t know this, but Adorama has run a series called 100 Tips in 100 Days.  I haven’t gone through nearly all of them, but they look like good tips.  Some of them seem a bit non-sensical, like Number 5, especially for D-SLR users, it doesn’t make sense that if you were in full manual mode, that you’d have to use exposure lock.  On a D-SLR, manual mode means you are locked!  Of course, this is different on a point and shoot.  Exposure lock is probably a good thing in this situation.

In any case, enjoy the 100 Tips in 100 Days!
